In Praise of Syndication
I had a share of a boat in Greece until recently, and have syndicated my own little racing boat for two or three years now. I first came upon the idea in the late 70s, when a friend shared a boat in Lymington with three friends. Youth First
The 2026 sailing season is underway with several of our youth members participating in the Starcross Steamer and youth squad training over at WPNSA. Despite spirited racing and impressive efforts in the Starcross Steamer , especially from younger sailors Toby Keates and Leo Shuttleworth, the escalating conditions forced officials to abandon the race on the third lap. Jeremy Parkinson A life in sailing
It probably helps to have a sea captain among your forebears; a painting on the wall at Jeremy's house shows the 'Emma of Portsmouth', a trading schooner belonging to Jeremy's great-grandfather, Captain Matthew Mitchell. Peter Hopford, author of HALs results software, is now an Honorary Life Member!
We congratulate Peter Hopford on being made an Honorary Life Member of Weymouth Sailing Club. Peter has sailed at WSC since 1978, in Phantoms, Falcons, Squibs and keelboats, has served as Hon. Gen. Sec. and Commodore, and provided the Club (and the sailing world at large) with the now legendary Halsail results programme.
